3 Things to Include in Your Patch-Thru Calling Audio Scripts (with Examples)

6 min read

Voices are a powerful thing. Patch-Thru Calling is a great tool for advocacy organizations to reach their constituents and let those voices be heard. By connecting callers directly with the right people in charge, Patch-Thru Calling can help to build relationships, raise awareness, and mobilize support for important causes.

One of the most important elements of Patch-Thru Calling is the audio script being used. The audio script is what the caller will say when they are connected to representatives. It is important to make sure that the audio script is clear, concise, and using the right language.

Three Things To Include In Your Patch-Thru Calling Audio Scripts:

A STRONG INTRODUCTION

The first few seconds of the audio script are crucial. This is your chance to make a good impression on the decision-maker and to get their attention. The introduction should be attention grabbing but to the point. You should clearly include:

  • Who you are
  • Why you are calling
  • What you hope to achieve

For example, you could start your introduction by saying:

"Hello, my name is [your name]. I'm a constituent of yours from [your city]. I'm calling today to urge you to support [your cause]."

A CLEAR MESSAGE

The body of the audio script should be clear and concise. It should state your message in a way that is easy for the decision-maker to understand. Avoid using too many technical terms. Instead, use plain language that everyone can understand.

A simple structure to organize your thoughts looks like this:

"I'm calling today to ask you to support [your cause]. [Your cause] is important to me because [why it's important to you]. I believe that [your cause] would benefit our community in [ways that it would benefit the community]."

A SPECIFIC NEXT STEP

What are you trying to accomplish with this call? The end of the audio script should include a call-to-action for next steps. This is your chance to ask a representative exactly what you want them to do.

For example, you could say:

"I urge you to support [your cause]. You can do this by [specific action that you want them to take]. Thank you for your time."

Additional Tips For Effective Patch-Thru Calling Audio Scripts:

  • Keep it short: People are busy, so they don't have time to listen to long speeches. Aim for a script for around 30 seconds long.
  • Use multiple scripts: Ensure that you have a well-organized approach to messages and actions. Make sure your script is relevant to the people you're calling.
  • Get feedback: Be sure to have colleagues listen or practice your script with you and give you feedback. This can help you identify any areas that need improvement.
  • Use humor and storytelling: People are more likely to remember and be persuaded by messages that are delivered in a humorous way or storytelling format. Add personal, authentic perspectives when possible.
  • Be polite: Good impressions go a long way. Thank someone for their time at the end of your calls.
